Mr. Gay Puerto Vallarta 2008

On Sunday, September 14, 2008 more than 50,000 pesos was raised during the Mr. Gay Vallarta contest, a charity benefit for Vallarta Enfrentasida. Mistress of ceremonies was the popular Mexican actress Alejandra Bogue, currently seen on her two Telehit programs, Guau and Que Show con La Bogue. She performed as “La Tesorito” for several years on the popular Televisa program Desde Gayola. The event was held in the old Senor Frogs nightclub and the after party at Paco's Ranch.

Puerto Vallarta's gay community came together in a big way to help promote and sponsor this event and will be rewarded as they once again play host to the National Mr. Gay Competition in December, 2008 when all the regional winners (and our newly selected Mr. Gay Vallarta) will compete for the national title and more great prizes.

Here's a video I spliced together today that is very amatuer and my first attempt at such a thing so don't make fun of any of it! I was in a particularly awkward spot in the house and the spotlight kept bleeding out faces and a pole was in my way much of the time. But, I hope it gives a little taste of the fun we had attending and the great work on the part of Paul Crist and organizers from Vallarta Enfrentasida. It was a fun night for a great cause. What a great feeling to be a part of a community that comes together for such a great cause. The final two scenes in this video were shot at Paco's Ranch during the after-party.

Also in town for the festivities and charity event were a group of wonderful guys who had a few drinks with us the night before the events at Bar Frida. They were here to help with the awareness of VES and as health advocates for us all. Free condoms were handed out to all.


The guys pulled up outside Fridas in the brand new van called the Condomovil (Condom Mobile)...think Priscilla Queen of the Desert meets safe sex advocacy.

One of the judges, Alfredo Hernandez, originally of Veracruz, is the men’s health program coordinator at the Latin American Health Institute in Boston. I had the chance to speak with him tonight at Bar Frida and this guy is doing amazing work! He's handsome too. Read more about his work here.
